Semester ticket Regensburg

Students of Universität and OTH Regensburg can use all lines of the Regensburger Verkehrsverbund (RVV) as often as they like during the course weeks and the semester holidays. The contribution is paid automatically upon payment of the semester fee at the time of registration or re-registration (see Basic contribution).

Visiting students cannot purchase the semester ticket.

Disabled students who are entitled to free public transportation and who have the disability card and the attached sheet with the sticker can apply to the Studierendenwerk's Counseling Student Life department for reimbursement.

With the semester ticket, students can use more than 100 bus lines and 6 train connections.

University and OTH Regensburg can be reached via the following lines:

  • Lines 11, C1, and X4 go to the stop OTH.
  • Lines 5, 6, C6, 19, 20, 21, and 38 go to the stop TechCampus/OTH.
  • Lines 2, 4, 6, 11, C1, C2, C4, C6, X4, and 19 go to the stop Universität.
  • Lines 6, C6, 11, 19, 20, 21, and 38 go to the stop Otto-Hahn-Straße.

Please note: Only validated and legible student ID cards are recognized as valid RVV tickets. The actual validity period must be clearly visible on the ID cards. Without a valid ticket, RVV may charge an increased transportation fee.

Bavarian discount ticket and "Aufpreisticket" for students

The upgrade to the discounted Deutschlandticket in Bavaria can be booked at any time as a monthly cancelable subscription in the RVV webshop. The price for the digital RVV surcharge ticket (RVV-Aufpreisticket) will be the monthly difference between the Bavarian discount ticket and the semester ticket already purchased.

With the price increase of the Deutschlandticket on 01.01.2026 to € 63.00 per month and the Bavarian discount ticket to € 43.00 euros per month, the difference between the semester ticket and the Bavarian discount ticket will also increase from January 2026 and thus also the price of the surcharge ticket to € 23.17 per month.

Universität and Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg, together with Regensburger Verkehrsverbund, have agreed on this solution. It allows students to use a form of the Deutschlandticket adapted to the semester ticket.

As a result, students will benefit from the discounted Deutschlandticket from the winter semester of 2023/2024 without having to pay twice the difference to the semester ticket they have already purchased.

Cancel your subscription

How to cancel your subscription for the RVV surcharge ticket:

1. register: Go to the online portal https://abo.rvv.de/, select ‘Deutschlandticket für Studierende’  and register at the institution that suits you best.
2. cancel your subscription: You can cancel your subscription at "Mein Abonnement". It is not necessary to cancel your subscription by e-mail to RVV or similar!

Cancellation must be made by the 10th of the current month and is valid from the following month.

Verification of student status

Due to the change from summer semester 2023 to winter semester 2023/2024, it is necessary to verify your student status again in order to be able to continue to purchase the discounted Deutschlandticket or RVV surcharge ticket for students of Universität and OTH Regensburg.

To verify your student status, proceed as follows:

Log in to the Deutschlandticket Shop customer account at https://abo.rvv.de/ and click on the "Verifizieren" button. You will then be redirected to the system of your university, where you can register and release your data. Your current enrolment period will be automatically transferred and noted in the Deutschlandticket Shop customer account.

If your enrollment does not begin until a future month, the start of the Deutschlandticket subscription will automatically be postponed to that month. If verification is successful, you will receive an e-mail containing the enrolment period and therefore your subscription start date.

If the verification fails due to incorrect data, please get in touch with your contact person at your university. The Studierendenwerk Niederbayern/Oberpfalz and the RVV have no influence on the verification of the stored student data.

If you do not complete the verification step, your subscription will be paused until it is verified again. You will then no longer receive a Deutschlandticket until further notice.

The subscription can be canceled monthly in your account administration, regardless of the enrollment period, subject to the notice period on the 10th day for the following month.

Changes to the Regensburg semester ticket from 2026: Discontinuation of the Sinzing–Münchsmünster route section

The district of Kelheim has ended its fare cooperation with RVV for local rail passenger transport, meaning that from January 1, 2026, the RVV fare will no longer apply on the train route between Sinzing and Münchsmünster.

A grace period has been agreed for the period from January 1, 2026, to March 31, 2026, during which the semester ticket can be used on the Sinzing–Münchsmünster train route. This means that although the semester ticket will no longer be valid on this section of the route during this period, no increased fare will be charged until March 31, 2026.

Please note that from April 1, 2026, you will need a separate ticket for the Sinzing–Münchsmünster section! The semester ticket will no longer be accepted as a ticket.

Due to the elimination of this section of the route and the associated reduction in the size of the RVV network area, the cost of the semester ticket will be reduced:
