Since the winter semester 2010/2011, there is a mandatory semester ticket for students of Landshut University of Applied Sciences. This ticket is integrated into the student ID card and is only valid in conjunction with a current photo ID.
Since the winter semester 2023/2024, the semester ticket has been valid not only on Stadtwerke Landshut services, but throughout the entire Landshuter Verkehrsverbund's (LAVV) network. It covers all lines in the city and district of Landshut during the winter semester 2025/2026 (October 1, 2025, to March 14, 2026) and in the city of Dingolfing during the period from October 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, insofar as the LAVV or Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund GmbH (MVV) fare applies. Important: Responsibility for the semester ticket and the Bavarian discount ticket will be transferred from the LAVV to the MVV on January 1, 2026.
Since the winter semester 2024/2025, students have been paying a semester ticket fee of € 42.00 per semester (equivalent to € 7.00 per month).
Bavarian discount ticket and "Aufpreisticket" for students
Students at Landshut University of Applied Sciences have the option of subscribing to the Deutschlandticket as a Bavarian discount ticket. Via the MVV online shop, students receive a fully-fledged digital Deutschlandticket on their smartphone, which entitles them to unlimited travel on public transport throughout Germany.
With the price increase of the Deutschlandticket to € 63.00 per month and the Bavarian discount ticket to € 43.00 per month as of January 1, 2026, the difference between the semester ticket and the Bavarian discount ticket will also increase, and with it the price of a surcharge ticket to € 36.00 per month. The surcharge ticket is expected to be available for purchase at the MVV shop starting in April 2026.
Changes for the winter semester 2025/2026: LAVV joins MVV and the semester ticket will no longer be valid for the city of Dingolfing as of January 1, 2026
The previous LAVV will be dissolved in 2026. The area of validity of the Semester ticket Landshut remains unchanged, with the exception of the city of Dingolfing, for which a separate ticket must be purchased from January 1, 2026.
Starting in the winter semester 2025/2026, MVV will take over ticket sales. MVV has set up a new ticket shop for this purpose. The process will remain essentially the same.
How it works in the new semester:
Automatic cancellation
As in every semester, all existing subscriptions will be automatically terminated on September 30, 2025. There are two reasons for this: the switch to the MVV and the legally required confirmation of your enrollment at the beginning of the semester.
Ordering a new subscription
Students can easily renew their Deutschlandticket (= Bavarian discount ticket) for the winter semester 2025/2026 online. Important: You will receive a new IBAN for your bank transfer.
Confirmation of enrollment
When placing your order, log in as usual via the university system. This automatically verifies that you are still enrolled at the university.
Tips to ensure you receive your ticket on time:
1. Make your payment on time
You will receive the payment information by email on the 20th of the previous month. It is best to make the transfer immediately so that there are no delays.
2. Use real-time transfer
This way, the amount is usually available immediately and your ticket will be issued right away. Some banks still need a little longer, so it's best to transfer the money early.
3. Check the purpose of payment
Make sure to use the correct purpose of payment as stated in the payment email so that your payment can be quickly assigned.
4. Use the correct IBAN
Each student receives a personal IBAN for the transfer. Please only transfer money to your individual IBAN – not to that of your fellow students. Unfortunately, payments to the wrong IBAN cannot be automatically assigned and will delay ticket issuance.
5. Keep an eye on your subscription
The Deutschlandticket is a monthly subscription. If you no longer need it, please remember to cancel it in good time.
